Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new.
Mollie Makes Floral Hoop Kit
Mollie Makes Floral ‘Let Love Bloom’ Hoop Kit from Issue 87 was designed by Amanda Bryde of Brynn & Co. It contained a plastic embroidery hoop, printed cotton fabric, embroidery threads and a sewing needle. I love a sewing kit but thought this was a little similar to the Scandi embroidery project which came with Issue 76 not that long ago.
Pre-printed panels are fun to stitch because you can make it up as you go along. There were instructions for different stitches but I just did what I wanted, stitching the different flowers around the letters.
It looked a little daunting but soon came together over a few evenings watching Netflix. I loved the colours of the threads which all complimented each other well. It felt a little early to be stitching something for Valentine’s Day but I suppose you can never start too early!
When I had finished I did a running stitch around the loose fabric at the back, pulling it tight and knotting the thread to finish it off. It was definitely good to start the year off with a little stitching. Fingers crossed for more!
