October was a great month for making. I also visited the Knit & Stitch Show which is one of my favourite days out. Read on to see what I’ve made this month. What I made October 2025 At the start of the month we picked up the ceramic pumpkins we made at our local pottery cafe last month. They turned out really well and have been on display ever since. Earlier in the month I made my annual trip to the Knit & Stitch Show, went fabric shopping and attended three totally different craft workshops. The chance to try a…

I don’t usually talk about Christmas in October however I wanted to share a little update on my Pretty Fabrics and Trims 2024 Advent Box. I received the Christmas Countdown panel last year and made the smaller projects, but the bigger project overwhelmed me as November and December are such crazy busy months. So I put it to one side and made a list of Christmas projects to make this year. A few weeks ago I got the Christmas Countdown panel out again and made a start. We love September, with the cooler days and leaves turning all different colours. Although we are busy with the teens back at school and their after school activities, the short evenings make it a fun time to sit around and craft. With Halloween and Christmas to look forward to, there is no shortage or projects to work on. What I made September 2025: I started the month by making the embroidered postcards which came with Love Embroidery magazine. It was fun to embroider onto card. Then we made Halloween costumes for our Maileg mice. It’s been many years since we…

Looking back over August and it feels like I had a lot of time for stitching, despite having two teenagers hanging around all month. What I made in August 2025 At the beginning of the month I completed the MakeBox Modern English Paper Piecing Ladybird kit. I made half of the ladybird a while ago and placed it on a large banner so I could see it all the time. I got tired of seeing half a ladybird so was happy to complete it. I stitched around the EPP ladybird, stitching it to the banner, with its leg slightly hanging…

It seems a while since I last shared a crochet craft. Our crochet cherries tutorial has proved really popular over on Pinterest, so today I thought I would share my tutorial for crochet cactus coasters. They are quite straightforward to make and are a fun craft for the summer months. List of supplies: Yarn Crochet hook 3.5 mm A pair of scissors Tapestry needle How to make your own crochet cactus coasters: Select a colour for the coaster and hold the open end of the yarn bundle without cutting it from the bundle. We’ll start our crochet with a magic…

We’re more than halfway through the year and I can’t help thinking about some of the festive projects I want to finish this year! There has been plenty of seasonal stitching though, including some pretty florals. What I made in July 2025 I finished my Pretty Fabrics and Trims huswif finally. It felt so good making this. I enjoyed embroidering the cover, making the EPP hexies and being brave and trying something new. I’ve been using it quite a lot which is good, because often I’ll stitch a hoop and don’t really display them. You can read a longer post…

I’ve been working on making myself a huswif or housewife and I’m so excited I’ve finished it and can share it here. Making a huswif sewing kit This was from a lovely kit from Pretty Fabrics and Trims. I received it as a present some time ago but was too scared to make it. Last year I embroidered the front cover but them put it away, too scared! This year was the year to complete the huswif, so in March I opened the kit up and looked at all the different parts! The kit came with labels which was helpful…

The last day in June seems like a great time to sit down and reflect on the month. I hit a major creative slump this month, but I’m glad to say it’s over. I spent the weekend working on a huswif, or portable sewing kit, and it’s made me feel so much happier. What I made in June 2025 At the beginning of the month I finished stitching the bee embroidery hoop I told you about previously. The design by Emillie Ferris featured a gorgeous bee and marigolds. This was a kit that had been sitting around for a while…
