My 6 year old has been off school for the past few days with chicken pox. He’s been quite poorly and Minecraft has been the only thing to cheer him up. To scrape him away from it we re-used our cellophane sweet wrappers to make this fun holly and berries winter sun catcher. We used: white card, green and red cellophane pieces, contact paper, scissors Holly and berries winter sun catcher First I drew some holly leaves and berries on a sheet of card. Then I cut them out using my Swann-Morton scalpel. If I made this again I would only…

I love making homemade Thank you cards. Every year my children receive lovely Christmas gifts and I want them to put some effort into the thank you cards they send. When they were younger we sent homemade photocards but now they can write their names (and my Year 2 son can write a lot more!) then I want them to make their own cards. This year I designed my own card. They are super simple but there is some scope for creativity! Simple Thank You cards for kids to make I added the words Thank You in large letters to…

Christmas can be hard for kids (and adults too!). The build up is immense, often starting in November with school fair’s and rehearsals for the Christmas nativity. We try to keep calm and enjoy the build up whilst not going overboard. This year we visited the Playmobil Santa’s Grotto at our local shopping centre, visited a National Trust house which had been transformed for Christmas, as well as taking a ride on our local Santa Express. We squeezed all these around normal weekend activities and swimming lessons! Since the children finished school things were a little more relaxed. We had…

Christmas is all about the children in our house. I always enjoyed Christmas but seeing through the eyes of my children is even more fun. We started off a few Christmas Eve traditions and this year I wanted to make something to hold everything in, so I made a Christmas Eve crate. I wrote a little about things to put in a Christmas Eve crate and I really enjoyed making ours and putting everything together. Our Christmas Eve crate holds Reindeer food, hot chocolate, new pyjamas, a DVD, a letter from the Elf and our stockings – things to help us enjoy Christmas Eve…

I’ve mentioned a few times now that I’m completely fallen under the spell of paper cutting as a brilliant craft. I was first introduced to it a few years ago when I attended a workshop run by Poppy Chancellor. I booked myself on another paper cutting class with Poppy Chancellor at The Handmade Fair in 2015 and was hooked. I snapped up her book Cut It Out! and quickly worked my way through it so have been looking for more templates and inspiration ever since. I thought it would be fun to share some of my favourite paper cutting things…

Every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new. I’ve been terrible lately, the last few kits haven’t been very inspiring but I did want to make the latest one. Issue 68 Mollie Makes Mini Cracker Kit The Mini Cracker Kit came with a wooden template, 8 papers, twine and confetti. The template was designed by…

I can’t believe we finished our last craft as part of the Bostik Family Craft Bloggers today. We’ve had so much fun over the last 12 months using their products in our crafty activities. Our final prompt was snow so today we made potato print snowmen a perfect Christmas craft for kids! For our potato print snowmen we used – potatoes, a cookie cutter, white paint and a pack of Bostik Glitter Pens. How to make potato print snowmen I prepared the potatoes by cutting them in half and used the cookie cutter to cut my desired shape. I couldn’t…

I seem to be giving a lot of money to my children’s school at this time of year. In the last month I’ve paid for school photos x 2, Christmas cards designed by them x 2, money for them to spend at their Christmas Fayre x 2, raffle tickets x 2, tickets to go and watch their Christmas nativity x 2, as well providing clothes for them to wear at the blooming nativity x 2! I’m so fed up of giving money to school! I’ve bought a few costumes for them over the last few years but as they grow,…

I don’t tend to write many gift guides. This is my second of the season (my first one can be found here) and I have one more planned. This gift guide is a little different because it’s full of the things I would love to receive! I’ve always loved adult colouring books and I’m hoping they are here to stay. Here’s a round up of some of my favourite adult colouring books around – perfect in case my husband needs a few ideas! Adult colouring books gift guide Lost in London – A colouring-in tour across England’s capital by Sylvia…
