This year I want to make a little mini quilt for my quilt gallery wall each month of the year. So when I was invited to take part in the Brother Crafts Challenge I just had to say yes. I have some really pretty fabrics in my stash and decided to use this sweet Spring time print from Belle and Boo. It’s a Cotton Poplin which I’ve used in a couple of projects around the house. Featuring Boo and the butterfly tumbling across this traditional patchwork-style fabric, I knew it would be perfect for a Spring time mini quilt. Simple Spring…

I know my children don’t have a clue about Easter but that hasn’t stopped us enjoying some Easter crafting. Yesterday we tried our hands at decorating and dyeing hard boiled eggs. This was actually quite quick so the children were able to follow the whole process. I thought I’d share it here as my two really enjoyed it. You will need: eggs Scotch Magic Tape scissors vinegar food colouring {STEM activity} Dyeing eggs for Easter First hard boil the eggs. I boiled them for 10 minutes then placed them in a sieve and ran cold water over them for a…

I think it’s fair to say we’re enjoying our Easter holidays. The 4 year old was in desperate need of a break from his nursery routine (he attends for five afternoons a week) and we’ve been crafting, to the beach, seen family and friends and for the first time, made our own Easter eggs! Have you ever tried using a chocolate mould before? We found it surprisingly time consuming as each layer needs to be left to solidify before another one is added. “Daddy, me have more chocolate please!” It was great fun though and there was plenty of chocolate…

I have a quick and easy Easter craft to share with you today. It involves two of my favourite things recycling cardboard toilet roll tubes and Spring time. The weather has been beautiful today so we’ve thrown open the back door and spent some happy hours crafting away, we have lots to share over the next week or two. How to make toilet roll chicks To make some sweet little Easter toilet roll chicks you will need: empty cardboard rolls from paper towels or toilet rolls, yellow paint, orange cardboard, glue stick, scissors, sticky tape and a black pen. Cut…

As my washi tape collection grows bigger and bigger I thought it was about time I used some of them up. My Pinterest boards are full of Easter and Spring crafting and I wanted to make something with my 3 year old who is currently exploring eggs at his nursery. We decided on pretty washi tape Easter eggs. How to make a washi tape Easter egg You will need – a variety of washi tapes, card, scissors and contact paper (also known as sticky back plastic). On a sheet of card draw an egg shape and cut it out. Place…

I don’t know about you but I’ll be really glad to see the back of this month. It’s been busy, we’ve had the uncertainty of our house sale going through and we’ve all been constantly ill. We’re going away for a few days over Easter, and taking our germs with us, but we’re more than happy to stay indoors until we’re feeling better (and the weather warms up!). Thanks to Nick Jnr. there’s plenty to keep my two busy with some fabulous Easter programming and a whole host of activities online to help keep them entertained over the long weekend.…

Following the theme of hand print fun, last week we got messy with the paints to create some Easter cards. Hand print animals are really easy to do and require few materials. We added a good dollop of yellow paint onto the paint tray and the toddler sponged it onto one hand before carefully pressing his hand down on to a sheet of paper. We left the hand prints to dry over night and then I added some legs, eyes and a beak with sharpies. As we wanted to make these into cards we then glued them onto blank cards…

If you ever ask the toddler what he wants to do he’ll answer painting. He absolutely loves sticking paper to the table, choosing a pot of paint and being creative. Hand print and thumb print animals are his current obsession so what better than hand print Easter bunnies for Easter gifts? You will need: paper, paint, black and red marker pen First of all stick your paper to the table, we use washi tape, to ensure the corners stay down. Choose which hand you want to use and sponge paint over the palm and fingers. Carefully press down the palm…
