Crafting pretty paper stars

There ‘s something about working with paper that I just love. Although I like to sew, I’m also really glad that I discovered paper craft too. This Christmas we added a huge paper star to our bay window so I was pretty excited to see a paper star kit along with my monthly Mollie Makes magazine.

Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new.

The paper star decorations kit came in Mollie Makes issue 99 and included a wooden template and 4 designs of patterned paper.

I like working with paper and couldn’t wait to make my stars. I drew around the template, scored along the lines and made the valley and mountain folds.

Then I started to push the paper into a star shape. It was a bit of trial and error and I found the best way was to glue the paper star together then push it into shape.

It was pretty fiddly and tested my patience. I imagined 12 paper stars hanging up in the window but I actually only made 4!

If I had more patience I would have threaded them with string and hung them up, but I didn’t. I was happy to try something new but there is only so much free time!

I don’t think I would have the patience for those, but they do look great and probably quite relaxing to make?
