Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new.
Issue 83 included a free 2018 calendar and stickers so I didn’t blog about that issue. Issue 84 included a free Advent Calendar kit which I was quite excited about. The kit included a wooden house template, 24 papers by Amy van Lujik and gold foil to customise your makes.
The instructions were easy to follow and all you need to provide is a cutting mat, sharp blade/scissors and pencil.
I made the first one but quickly realised I wasn’t going to make the whole village. I don’t particularly like the patterned papers and have nowhere to display an advent village! My house is so cluttered and my kids love their Lego and Advent calendars which take up any spare room we have during Advent.
This makes for quite a grown up Advent calendar, and I think I might make it another year in black, white and silver. I really hope someone makes it though, I can’t wait to see pictures of the finished village.

Oh this looks like a fun craft to do! I agree it looks like more of a grown up advent calendar, my kids definitely wouldn’t be able to cut that out well enough just yet!
That looks so cute. I have never made anything like that. Perhaps my future grandchildren will like to make something like that with grandma.
