Every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new with each of the cover gifts.

Jenny Makes Mollie Makes Mr Fox & pals decorations

I love getting mail and was pretty excited to see the pretty cover of the latest issue of Mollie Makes (issue 64). With the yellow and decorated eggs I immediately felt happy and couldn’t wait to read my copy. As well as the magazine there was a copy of a Spring booklet with 25 projects and the cover gift – to make Mr Fox & pals decorations.

Inside the envelope there was a piece of printed cotton, a piece of floral cotton, embroidery thread, bakers twine and a needle.

I ironed both pieces of cotton before roughly cutting around each printed animal. There was a rabbit, fox and chicken, all pre-printed, with instructions for adding detail with the coloured embroidery thread.

This was my perfect Saturday evening project so I switched on the latest episode of House of Cards and started.

I quickly stitched the three little animals then cut each one around the dotted line. I used the floral cotton to back each one, placed right sides together, pinned and stitched them on my machine.

I stuffed them with some toy filling, which wasn’t included, and stitched the gap closed. I didn’t learn any new skills but they are cute Spring decorations and will look great on our white seasonal tree.
