Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new.

To say I’m a bit behind would be an understatement. Issue 108 contained a paper flower wall hanging kit which you would have thought would be right up my street. I started but never finished it. Issue 109 was the Felt Dandy Lion which I loved making but back in August. Issue 110 contained a paper cracker set designed by Suzy Ultman which I haven’t yet made. Issue 111 was a Christmas crochet baubles kit which I passed on to a friend and Issue 112 was a cute Festive Pup kit.

I’ve always loved sewing with felt. It’s so relaxing and relatively straightforward. I couldn’t wait to stitch the little pup and it really didn’t take long. The craft kit was designed by Manuela Trani of Nuvolina Handmade and contained felt, embroidery thread, toy stuffing and a needle. You just needed to provide black embroidery thread to embroider the nose, eyes and mouth.

 

I cut out the pieces and started stitching. I followed the pattern and enjoyed embroidering the little coat and scarf. Unfortunately I made a slight mistake when putting the coat together, see if you can spot it!

It was a fun little project and a sweet addition to my hand-stitched Christmas decorations. Hopefully we will have the real thing one day!
