Mollie Makes Spring Bunny Plushie Kit

Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and ~~have~~ had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new.

I didn’t realise how far behind I had got until yet another issue of Mollie Makes landed on my doorstep this week. Issue 90 included a cute Spring Bunny Plush Kit. Issue 91 came with fabric and a project book and Issue 92 contained a crochet mandala kit (which I’ve already passed to a friend as I can’t crochet).

Issue 90 contained the Spring Bunny Plush Kit designed by Michelle Galletta of Kiriki Press. Included was a printed cotton panel, embroidery threads and a needle. I loved the look of the kit but life has been really busy lately and I haven’t made any time to craft.

At the weekend I went to a paper cutting workshop and it’s really made me wake up and remember that I love to craft. I seem to go through phases and I’ve been making a lot of painted rocks with my children. Since the weekend I have been paper cutting, sorting out my stash of craft books (finally!) and making some time to try something new.

Me actually making the free cover gifts is what this series is all about. I feel so much better if I make time to craft every day. It’s also really rewarding to try new crafts, rather than sticking to my favourites. Embroidery isn’t new to me but I knew this kit wouldn’t take long to make, so I finally started.

I’ve been rather hooked on Iron Fist on Netflix recently so that has been the perfect little stitching project whilst I watch. I became so engrossed in Iron Fist that I stopped following the instructions and made my own. Sometimes it’s good to go your own path!

Anyway I’ve just stitched him shut and it’s not too bad. I always get stuck stitching around the ears as they are so fiddily and small, turning them the right way was pretty stressful. I’m really pleased with the finished result. We just need some Spring weather now!
