Paper Ice Lollies {Mollie Makes}

Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new.

Paper Ice Lollies

Issue 93 of Mollie Makes landed yesterday. In case you’re wondering what happened to Issue 91 and 92, well 92 contained a crochet kit which I gave to a friend. Issue 91 came with fabric and a project book which I actually want to make, I just haven’t had time to get my sewing machine out.

I was looking forward to receiving the paper ice lollies kit it as it looked as though it was a paper cutting one. When I opened it I realised it was slightly more complicated, so I simplified it. I’ve been seriously short of time recently but I really wanted to make something for myself. So I adapted this free craft kit to the time I had.

The Paper Ice Lollies kit included a wooden template, 10 sheets of colourful paper in 5 flavours and 10 wooden ice lolly sticks. The kit was designed by Angela Poole. As I was short on time I decided to make the 3D ice lollies as a 2D ice lolly garland.

It was pretty simple to adapt the template and I cut out 10 paper ice lollies from the patterned paper.

I used sticky tape to attach each wooden lolly stick to the back of the paper ice lolly, and made them into a garland with some bakers twine.

I’m really happy with the end result. I’ve already taken down my Spring banner and replaced it with this colourful Summer paper ice lollies banner.
