With the kids on half term we decided to have a short city break in Bath. We love Bath and have been lucky to visit many times. It is the perfect size for a short city break and has lots to offer families. We booked a fantastic apartment in a Georgian terrace just off the famous Royal Crescent within easy walking distance of the centre of Bath.
Thirsty Meeples Bath {Board Game Cafe review}
We love a visit to a Board Game Cafe as we love to play board games. I searched for Board Game Cafes in Bath and found Thirsty Meeples, which is a great name for a board game cafe! I booked a slot online and it made a great place to sit and relax after a busy morning of sight seeing.
You can find Thirsty Meeples on a busy side street, near to the Jane Austen Centre. They have over 1000 board games to choose from!
Our first game was Ticket to Ride Germany. I’ve mentioned before how much we love the Ticket to Ride series and we had never played the Germany board before. If you’ve played the original Ticket to Ride then you can play any of the later games easily. There were a few differences, namely you can pick short or long routes to play, and also collect meeples from stations, and these add up to extra points.
This was easy to set up and play and took us just over an hour to play.
I would easily add this to our board game collecting if we had the room.
The next game we played was Carcassonne South Seas. Again, we are huge fans of the original Carcassonne and this was very similar to set up and play.
We found it similar to Carcassonne Gold Rush which we played when we visited Draughts Board Game Cafe.
The game took about 30 minutes to play and we all enjoyed it.
We also tried playing Dog Park but it was just too confusing for us to pick up in the time we had left. We enjoyed some food and drinks but the menu was quite limited, so we would not recommend booking over lunch time as we did.
Thirsty Meeples is a lovely board game cafe and we found the staff helpful in explaining game rules. We would definitely pop in again next time we are in Bath.
