What I made September 2025

Posted on September 30, 2025October 2, 2025 by jenny

We love September, with the cooler days and leaves turning all different colours. Although we are busy with the teens back at school and their after school activities, the short evenings make it a fun time to sit around and craft. With Halloween and Christmas to look forward to, there is no shortage or projects to work on.

What I made September 2025:

I started the month by making the embroidered postcards which came with Love Embroidery magazine. It was fun to embroider onto card.

Then we made Halloween costumes for our Maileg mice. It’s been many years since we made Halloween costumes for my daughters Sylvanian Families characters, so we thought we would make some more. We used cardboard tubes to make a pumpkin, ghost, monster and bat costumes.

This year we bought a lot of craft kits from Wilko as they are perfect for my crafty teen. She’s tried air dry clay Halloween characters, Halloween bracelets and even stitched a ghost cushion.

My daughter and I went to a ceramic pumpkin workshop at Wick & Ceramic. This is the same place we made our little Jellycat ornaments so it was good fun to go back and make something different. We painted them and left them to be fired so can’t wait to be able to go and pick them up.

We also dusted off our 3D printer to make an oversize Lego wreath. We’ve glued it together and will be able to change the decorations for the season!

The latest Hoop Club craft kit from Cotton Clara was a sweet butterfly needlepoint design. I loved the previous needlepoint pincushion I made, but this design needs accuracy so it requires some concentration. I keep putting it to one side, so this may not get finished anytime soon in favour of Christmas projects.

Last month I dug out all my Christmas projects. I find the festive season overwhelming with so many things to do, when all I really want is to sit and stitch. I’ve accumulated a few craft kits so wrote them all down, in the hope it would keep me accountable for making them. When I looked through my Pretty Fabrics and Trims Advent Box 2024 I discovered a kit hidden at the bottom that I hadn’t even noticed!

The Advent Box was amazing, and I’m glad I treated myself, but I have no idea how anyone has the time to stitch everything during Advent. I was delighted to find the kit (small projects are perfect for my brain), so stitched the pretty Christmas EPP ball. It’s a great addition to our handmade decorations.

I also started on the Pretty Fabrics and Trims Christmas Countdown, a large festive themed sampler, featuring a countdown to Christmas with a different picture for each day. The design is pre-printed so I’m enjoying stitching each part over the coming weeks, with no pressure to rush it in time for December.

I also finished those Little Stitchy Bee wooden ornaments. What a month!

I am loving your seasonal crafts, I used to love doing cross stitch and was out with my daughter the other day and we were looking in a craft shop and they had some Christmas cross stitch pieces and I am thinking of restarting

So many amazing crafts this month, the cushion looks so cute, glad you managed to squeeze that in before Halloween. I love the idea of the pumpkin workshop, I need to see if there’s something like that near me x
