Blogger Board Game Club: Timeline: Science Museum

Our latest #gifted game from the Blogger Board Game Club was Timeline: Science Museum. This is a portable card game which I thought would be great for my science-mad children. We are always on the lookout for new games and I liked the sound of this because it was small, educational and could be played in 15 minutes.

Blogger Board Game Club: Timeline: Science Museum

Was the first Electric Iron invented before or after the lightbulb? But what if it was actually dated somewhere between the development of canned food and the flying scotsman’s first journey? And was Uranus discovered around the same time as the cat’s Eye Nebula?

Timeline: Science Museum

In Timeline these are exactly the kinds of questions you need to ask yourself. You’re dealt 5 cards and take it in turns to play one of your cards. There’s only one objective: be the first player to play all of your cards correctly in the time line!

Timeline: Science Museum

The box contains 110 cards, based on the Science Museum’s collection of scientific, technological and medical achievements from across the globe. My 9 year old really enjoyed trying to figure out which card went where in the timeline. It’s a fun way to learn about important scientific discoveries and scientists. Our top tip is that although it looks like a fun travel game you actually need a large table or floor space to play!

Timeline: Science Museum

The cards from Timeline: Science Museum can be mixed with cards from other Timeline editions. By mixing two or more Timeline games with different themes, you can make your game more challenging!

I love games like this – they’re so easy to carry around (for us grown ups to play in the pub) but I imagine great for taking on holiday with the little ones!
