Blogger Board Game Club Review: Exploding Kittens

Our latest game from the Blogger Board Game Club was the brilliant Exploding Kittens. Have you heard of it before? It was funded on Kickstarter a few years ago and is hugely popular. My husband had heard of it but I hadn’t so I was really looking forward to trying it. It’s a simple card game  – or is it?

Blogger Board Game Club Review: Exploding Kittens

The premise is simple – you are dealt a number of cards. You take it in turns to place and draw cards until you pick an Exploding Kitten card.

Then you explode, and when you explode you die.

Unless you use a Defuse card which will stop the kitten from exploding. You can also use some of the other cards to skip a turn, take a look at the top 3 cards on the deck, or attack other players.

I like the fact it can be played by 2 or more players. It meant my husband and I could have a few rounds before we played with the children. The illustrations on the cards are really funny and we loved the fast-paced nature of this card game. The children enjoyed playing Exploding Kittens too. Games are quite quick once you know what you’re doing and you can become quite sneaky as you become familiar with the game. We’ll definitely be packing this to take away on our next holiday!
