Blogger Board Game Club review: Carcassonne

Blogger Board Game Club review: Carcassonne

Posted on November 13, 2018January 1, 2020 by jenny

A few weeks ago we were kindly sent a copy of Carcassonne to play and review. The game was first launched in 2001. The idea is simple: Carcassonne is a clever tile-laying game based on the southern French city of Carcassonne, famous for its unique Roman and Medieval fortifications. Players develop the area around Carcassonne and deploy their followers on the roads, in the cities, in the cloisters, and in the fields while creating a perfect city landscape.

As members of the Blogger Board Game Club we were sent this copy of Carcassonne to review. We love to play board games together and this is one of our favourites!

Blogger Board Game Club review: Carcassonne

In Carcassonne, players build the area surrounding this impressive city, one tile at a time. They then place a follower (known as meeples) on fields, cities, roads or monasteries in order to score as many points as possible. The player who uses their meeples in the cleverest way will win the game.

Carcassonne classic family game

Carcassonne is a classic, award-winning game. The version we were sent includes two expansions: The River and the Abbot. These were easy to incorporate into our games and added another level of fun.

Although the game is targeted at ages 7 and over my 6 year old has no trouble playing this game. Both my children are very competitive and love to score more points that the other one. We all enjoy this game., especially as every game is completely different.
