Blogger Board Game Club review: SET card game

Blogger Board Game Club review: SET card game

Posted on December 11, 2018February 3, 2020 by jenny

We are counting down the days until the Christmas holidays begin. Both children had their Christmas plays today and are looking really tired. We have been making lots of time to relax and wind down after school, and have been enjoying games of SET.

Blogger Board Game Club review: SET card game

Have you heard of SET before? Set has won over 35 best game awards including Mensa select. It’s a perfect travel game and a party favourite!

The object of the game is to identify sets of three cards. Each card is unique in its four features: shape, colour, number and shading. A set consists of three cards in which each individual feature is either all the same or all different on three cards. It took us a while to figure out what a set was but then we were off! With no turns and no luck, SET is challenging, fast and fun!

Each game lasts around 10 minutes which makes this a great family game to play. I love a card game which can be played whilst waiting for dinner and this is one that gets pulled out to be played quite often. The idea is quite simple and the object of the game is to be the player with the most SETs at the end of the game!

Set can be played alone or with as many players as you can fit around the table! The instructions also includes the suggestion of using the game cards to play Solitaire.

SET, although made as a game of fun, has lots of educational value. It can be used in a classroom environment as it encourages and builds cognitive, logical and spatial reasoning skills. SET is also a great game to help keep your brain active and healthy.

Essential information:

What’s inside the box: 21 cards and Instructions

SET is priced £12.99

Perfect for ages 6 and over

Can be played by 1-8 players

A game takes around 20 minutes

No, I’ve not heard of this before and it looks quite simple but I like games like that, that are fast paced and everyone can join in. Mich x
