The release of the new trailer for Star Wars Episode VIII yesterday got us all excited for the new film. Let’s ignore the fact we still have to wait another 8 months. I’m sure it will go in a flash! Our whole family loves all things Star War so I thought I would bring together my favourite Princess Leia crafts. Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan, later known as General Leia Organa, was one of the original Star Wars characters. Played by the late Carrie Fisher I’m glad she had finished filming Episode VIII but sad to hear she won’t be appearing in Episode IX.…

My son received tickets to go and see Star Wars Identities at the O2 London. He’s a huge Star Wars fan, we all are, so thought it would make a great trip during the Easter holidays. We planned a day out, travelling by tube, seeing the exhibition and coming part of the way back by river boat. Yesterday we had our big day out and had a brilliant time. When we entered the exhibition we were given a wristband and audio guide. Throughout the exhibition there were 10 points where you could touch in with your wristband and choose a Star…

It feels like an age since I stitched something. Clothes alterations just don’t count although it does feel like I’m constantly stitching badges on my son’s Beaver uniform! Our whole family love Star Wars so when I spotted a Star Wars felt kit in the shops I knew it would make a great Christmas present for myself my husband. He cannot sew to save his life so I had the happy job of making them up for him. My children were equally delighted to see the set and immediately started dictating which ones I should make first. Of course…

Having a 6 year old who is obsessed with Star Wars can be hard work. Since watching Rogue One and receiving lots of books about it at Christmas, means every time he opens his mouth he’s talking about Star Wars. I’ve seen the film too, and loved it. My children went back to school this week and I wanted to make them a fun after school snack. You know I love making gingerbread so I made a batch of gingerbread cookies, and named them Jyn Erso’s Death Star cookies. “That’s no moon. It’s a space station.“ If you’ve watched Rogue…

Both my husband and son love Star Wars. I’ve mentioned before that my 6 year old is obsessed with Star Wars and his Christmas list is pretty much all Star Wars lego sets, and new Rogue One toys. I wanted to introduce some Star Wars Christmas decorations this year and found some really fun Star Wars snowflakes on Pinterest. I followed the link to this site where Star Wars snowflake designs have been produced for the last few years. Paper cutting is my latest obsession and I’ve pretty much finished the Cut It Out book I bought a few weeks…

This year my son started Year 2 and although he is a really good reader he doesn’t show any interest in reading chapter books on his own. We’ve been working our way through the Roald Dahl books together at bedtime but nothing seemed to hook him in enough to stay up late reading on his own. Star Wars Reads Day For the past few weeks I have been searching for any information on Star Wars Reads Day. Star Wars Reads Day is an international campaign to celebrate and encourage children to read. Last year we received a wonderful bundle of…

I have been thinking about different ways for my children to play with their toys and I thought of combining their favourite Star Wars toys with our tuff spot. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best and our Star Wars sensory bin has been recreated several times. For our DIY Star Wars sensory bin for kids we used: Selection of Star Wars toys Tuff spot Sand Wooden stars DIY Star Wars sensory bin for kids: Our tuff spot gets a lot of use at this time of year. The last time the children played with this the sun was shining…

I never used to think my 6 year old was a fussy eater. He is active and therefore hungry and used to eat anything I put before him. Over the last 12 months I have noticed him becoming fussier, especially with his school lunch. I’ve ended up making a packed lunch for him on Wednesday’s as he refuses to eat the food at school. Star Wars bento lunch I think my son would happily eat the same lunch every Wednesday if it was up to him but I like to try and make it interesting and memorable. I love the…

Since my son watched The Force Awakens in December everything has been about Star Wars. Up to that moment he had been a huge Minecraft fan but now it’s all forgotten and all he seems to do is eat, sleep and talk about Star Wars. However, we’ve had so much fun crafting around the theme of Star Wars. Luckily we’re all Star Wars fans, yes, even me! We wanted to make something special to celebrate May 4th. My 6 year old loved the idea of a Star Wars Day so we made our very own papier mache Death Star. This…
