postbox topper Shaftesbury

Five Happy Things {Week 14/2025}

Posted on April 6, 2025April 19, 2025 by jenny

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family.

Five Happy Things {Week 14/2025}

We enjoyed a really delicious pub lunch at The Royal Oak in Swallowcliffe. This is a lovely pub in a gorgeous village complete with historic church and a stream running through the village. I opted for fish and chips which was really good.

The tiny village had its own phone box library. This was a free library housed in a disused red telephone box. There were quite a few books I would have gladly taken to read but I have plenty so left them for someone else to enjoy. My daughter took a Michael Morpurgo book which she was delighted to pick up.

We spotted a really run postbox topper masterpiece at the top of Gold Hill in Shaftesbury. It features a black crown on top of a patchwork of hills, with a stream and trees. It has the words 107.3 FM around the band of the crown, which I discovered was the local radio station for Shaftesbury.

I finished making the Lego Botanicals Mini Orchid I received for my birthday last month. It was a quick and easy build and will look lovely all year round.

I’ve been working on the Pretty Fabrics & Trims Floral Felt Easter Egg decorations kit. I love working with felt and these are fun to stitch and will look great with the rest of our Easter decorations.

Have a great week!

    It sounds like you had a lovely week. I remember going to Shaftsbury a few years ago and walking up Gold Hill. We also drove through last April when we were away for my birthday

    Amazing and thank you for being an inspiration for enjoying the little things…I am learning to enjoy the little moments, the little events and things…This made the entire difference. Again, thank you.

    OMG. A tiny village with a tiny phone booth library? This is everything I have ever imagined England could be.

    I always love to hear about the projects you’re working on. My GF sews all the time, and I find it so sothing.

    I love the knitted postbox toppers, we have a few locally which I like to spot when I’m out. I would like to get some botanical lego it looks fun to put together.

    I think that the Legos flower sets are really fun to look at! I also love the idea of the lending library, we have a much smaller one not in a postbox in our town.
