Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new.
Mollie Makes Reindeer Tree Decoration
The Reindeer Tree Decoration in Mollie Makes Issue 86 was designed by Jenny Blair and contained felt, thread, pom pom trim, stuffing and a needle. I cut out the templates from the magazine and got cutting. I love making things from felt and I thought this little guy looked too cute to not make.
It was a really cute kit and easy to put together. I’ve stitched a few felt animals before and although they can be fiddly they are definitely worth it. The little blanket was fun as I’ve never made anything like it before.
I enjoyed using the gold thread and it will definitely sparkle when hung on our tree. You may see that I didn’t quite follow all the instructions but I’m pretty happy with the little felt reindeer I’ve stitched.

Oooh, I haven’t bought Mollie Makes in ages but that is adorable and I love the look of the wreath on the cover too – might have to go and treat myself!
Hi, after seeing this I had to have a go at making this…I can’t make it stand – mine’s like a cross between a starfish and a reindeer! Any advice on how to keep the legs closer together? Thanks, Debbie
I’m not sure what I did to make mine stand, in fact he looks a little overstuffed to me! Any chance you could insert pipe cleaners into his front and back legs to help him balance?
