We love being part of Asmodee’s Blogger Board Game Club and were delighted to receive Dice Academy to review. We’ve had a few days away over half term and Dice Academy was the perfect size to take with us! We rented a lovely Airbnb which was 2 minutes away from a dog-friendly pub. We spent a great hour in the pub hiding from Storm Dennis and learning how to play Dice Academy.
With an 8 and a 9 year old I always need a few games which I can whip out when they start to get bored. Family holidays are great but I find my kids need something to keep their brains busy. Dice Academy is small enough to fit in a bag, but complex enough to keep small brains ticking. We had lots of fun with Dice Academy!
Dice Academy
Dice Academy is a game of mental agility and enables you to hone your fine motor and visual perception skills. You play by throwing two sets of 5 dice. You need to quickly master the themes of the dice, then race to match a theme dice with a letter dice of opposing colour to win points.
This is one of those games which sounds simple and it is. There aren’t many rules and these themes are quick and easy to learn. We set the score quite low (usually 10 points) so we were able to play a few rounds until we had a winner. I really like this game and know I will be picking it up if we are going out for a meal or I need to keep the kids amused whilst I’m busy.
What did my 9 year old think?
He said “I thought it was quite a good game. I liked the fact there were 30 different themes to get your brain burning. It’s simple to learn and fun to get the most points and beat your opponent”.
