Blogger Board Game Club: Dobble Card Game

Blogger Board Game Club: Dobble Card Game

We have had a lot of wet weekends recently so we were so pleased to be invited to work with Asmodee’s Blogger Board Game club again. We were sent some lovely games and will be sharing our thoughts over the next few months. Our latest #gifted game from the Blogger Board Game Club was the Dobble Card Game.

Blogger Board Game Club: Dobble Card Game

Dobble is a speedy observation game where players race to match the identical symbol between cards. Reliant on a sharp eye and quick reflexes, this is a great family game.

My 7 year old recognised Dobble as soon as she saw it as they have played it at school. It was really nice that for once she could take the game straight out of the packaging and tell us all how to play it. In fact, she played the game a few times with her brother without needing any input from me, which is unheard of!

The circular cards are stored inside a handy tin. Each card is unique and contains a number of symbols. Every card is unique and has only one symbol in common with any other in the deck. The aim of the game is to match a symbol on the deck with the one in your hand, the first player to get rid of all their cards is the winner. The symbols are actually pretty difficult to spot as the size and positioning of the symbols varies on each card.

There are 5 different ways to play Dobble. The Mini Games include Fill the Well, The Towering Inferno, Hot Potato, Catch Them All and The Poisoned Gift.

You can play all 5 mini games or your favourite one. The only important thing is that as the game is based on reactions and visual perception, rather than knowledge or strategy, there is no advantage for adults over children, making it the perfect family game.

Essential information:

What’s inside the box: 55 circular cards, each decorated with eight different symbols varying in size and orientation

Dobble is priced £12.99

Perfect for ages 6 and over

Can be played by 2-8 players

A game takes around 15 minutes

**We have included Amazon links to Dobble. If you click on these and buy we may earn a small commission.

[…] I love to do things as a family and will be packing a selection of games to take with us. We recently bought a roof box as I just can’t travel lightly. If a game is educational too, then even better, so I’m thinking Uno, Bananagrams, Rockpool and Dobble. […]
