If you’re looking for a craft activity to keep the children busy over the summer holidays then look no further than Aquabeads. My children love Aquabeads, and I love Aquabeads because it’s something they can do all on their own.
My 7 year old loves the Disney franchise Cars. We went to see the latest film, Cars3 as an end of term treat, and he has a huge collection of die cast and Lego vehicles from the films. He loves to craft so I was really excited to show him the latest Aquabeads set which ties in with Car 3 – the 3D Cruz Ramirez Set.

So far all our Aquabeads creations have been 2D so we were pretty excited to see this set. It contains instructions with templates, yellow, white, grey and black polygon beads, red jewel beads, a bead peeler, layout tray, sprayer and vehicle frame.
My son took everything out and immediately made up the plastic vehicle frame. He set this to one side and started putting together the layers. Luckily we have quite a few layout trays so he was able to make a few at once. He used the special bead peeler to take off each layer of beads until he had all the layers needed to build Cruz Ramirez.
Aquabeads are really easy to use. You follow the instructions to make the layer, spray with water and leave to dry. Then you can stack the layers, keeping them together with more sprays of water, and they stay together.
My son needed a little help from his Dad to finish it off but then they put it on the vehicle frame and it was finished. It was a great craft to make, especially for fans of Cars!

My daughter had these when they first came out, i had totally forgotten about them until reading this. My 6 year old would love a try at these im sure
These are incredible! It reminds me of Hama beads that I used to play with as a child, but all of my creations were 2D
I’m sure my friends children would absolutely love these! Being able to work together with a parent is great for bonding and interaction too xxx
This is brilliant, I had no idea you could make 3D models with them!
My six year old nanny charge has recently discovered agua beada and likes them. I didn’t know you can get a 3d cars version! He would love to make this
