What I made in September 2024

Liberty Tumbling block EPP pattern

So we are over half way through the year and the long evenings make me reach for my sewing. I love seasonal crafting and have been picking out some new projects to make.

Have you heard of Sewing Street? They kindly sent me their brand new hanging plants embroidery kit to try out. Featuring a pre-printed panel with four designs, I chose the one I wanted to stitch. It came with a booklet full of stitches so you can choose the stitches you use to embroider over the pattern. It’s such a lovely idea and has been a real joy to embroider.

We’ve booked our tickets to the local pumpkin patch so I knew I wanted to make a small felt pumpkin for my desk too. I used a free pumpkin pattern from Pretty Fabrics and Trims and stitched up a little felt pumpkin pincushion in no time. Over the last month I shared some new crafty tutorials for a sweet little felt Halloween ghost as well as an amigurumi ghost pattern.

Last week my Pretty Fabrics and Trims Advent Box arrived and I admit I had a sneak peek. It’s packed full of fabric projects to get me through Advent and I can’t wait to have something to pick up in the evenings after a busy day in the office.

As you have probably come to expect by now there was also some stitching on my Liberty Tumbling Blocks cushion. I’ve now finished the front panel and it measures 60 x 60 cm. I’m still trying to decide if I carry on making EPP blocks or just use some plain black Liberty Tana Lawn for the back. I love making EPP blocks but I really should just finish this project.

Don’t forget I’ve teamed up with the organisers of The Creative Craft and Stitching Show to offer a pair of tickets to two lucky winners. Taking place at the NEC, Birmingham from 31st October to 3rd November, the show feature a wide range of exhibitors offering the latest craft inspiration and advice – a real crafter’s paradise. Enter on this blog post by the 3rd October!

I always enjoy seeing what you’ve been stitching. I grew up surrounded by cross stitch, crochet, needlepoint, and knitting, so I enjoy seeing progress on your projects.

I am loving the look of the tumbling blocks, it is so effective! I am quite creative but haven’t done any sewing in a while. I must look at local pumpkin patches as I am sure slots will book up fast!

I do love seeing what you have been crafting, I used to sew years ago and do have some kits around but just have not had the chance to grab them and sit and get creative

I used to sew long time back. But I never crafted something as special as you do.
