What I made in March 2024

March was busy and I seem to have achieved a lot over the last few weeks.

What I made in March 2024

I started the month visiting the Fashion and Textile Museum to see The Fabric of Democracy exhibition before it closed. This is a great museum and I really enjoyed seeing all the different textiles from around the world.

I embroidered a pretty magnolia blossom hoop from a previous Craftpod box and gifted it to my mum on Mothering Sunday. It featured a lot of satin stitch which is not my favourite, but I think it turned out pretty well.

Throughout the month I’ve been stitching my Liberty tumbling blocks together. I finally found the cushion pad which was much bigger than I expected so I think I will be working on this for a while!

Last week I was able to attend The Stitch Festival 2024 at the Business Design Centre. I don’t think I’ve been to this show before and it was really good. I booked on two workshops and had fun trying my hand with Italian Corded Quilting – I made a heart shaped piece. I was given enough material to make three more, and then stitch them together into a small quilt, but I’m not sure I enjoyed it enough! I also started a fabric badge which I need to finish off. I picked up lots of Liberty Tana Lawn to add to my collection too.

I also tried my hand at making gold foil Easter egg decorations from empty food tubes. I’ve seen these on Instagram and couldn’t wait to try it myself. The results are really pretty and add a sparkle to our Easter decorations.

Finally, I shared an honest post about why I failed to complete a 365 stitch project. Daily life is just not interesting enough to be recorded in stitch!

A stitch festival sounds amazing. My daughter stitches a lot when working with clothes!! I’m sure she’d love it.
