Miniature Felt Party Bear from Mollie Makes magazine

Miniature Felt Party Bear

Posted on January 11, 2019 by jenny

I was lucky to find time for some crafting over Christmas and New Year. I took a little pile of projects away with me which meant I had plenty to keep me busy in the evenings once the children had gone to bed. Regular readers will know that each month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new.

Issue 100 of Mollie Makes included a cute Felt Party Bear kit which I couldn’t wait to stitch. I’ve always loved crafting with felt and I knew this would be a project I would love to make.

The Ready To Sew kit contained everything needed = felt, thread, needle, soft toy stuffing and a pom pom.

I cut out the template and cut out my felt. Unfortunately I made my first mistake by not pinning the templates to the felt and didn’t have enough! So I went out and bought some gorgeous wool felt from a lovely sewing shop in Trowbridge.

I started stitching all the different parts of the bear together. I found the instructions a little tricky to follow, especially regarding putting the head together. I actually left it a few days as I just couldn’t figure it out, but eventually I did.

Soon my little party bear came together. I enjoyed stitching his clothes but lost the pom pom so had to find another. This was quite a tricky make due to the size, but I had fun and love the finished felt Party Bear. You can find the free templates online if you didn’t purchase Mollie Makes magazine.

Aw, he is such a cutie! I used to love Mollie Makes, but it turns out I’m actually not that great at crafting!

I have been gifted this kit but without instructions! I don’t suppose you still have the magazine to hand to help a fellow crafter out please? 🤞

Oh no, I don’t I’m afraid. Did you download the templates from the Mollie Makes website? That should help a little. Sorry!

Thanks for replying! I have the templates but it looks like a challenging one that I am not sure I can figure out on my own. Such a shame because the project looks so lovely. Thanks anyway 🙂

Are you getting much crafting done in lockdown? I was but have been back in school for 3 weeks now (school librarian in London).

My wife has the kit – but does not have the template – I am unable to find it on Mollie Makes website. Does anyone have the correct URL?
