Mollie Makes Kitsch Festive Loom Kit

Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and ~~have~~ had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new. The last issue contained a crochet kit which I passed to a friend so I was looking forward to the new issue arriving.

Issue 97 of Mollie Makes included a Kitsch Festive Loom Kit designed by Natasha Humphreys. The kit contained a wooden loom, string, wool, ribbon, a dowel and plastic needle. There have been a few loom kits in Mollie Makes before but this one contained some fun festive colours, ribbon and chunky roving. Initially I thought I wasn’t going to make it but then changed my mind, and I’m glad I did.

I have a few projects on the go but I was looking for something simple to do whilst watching Killing Eve. Have you watched it? It’s soooo good! Anyway, I thought I would pick up the loom as it’s such an easy craft and you can make it simple or more complicated, it’s entirely up to you.

I read through the pattern but decided to make it up my own way. I used some of the wool and just enjoyed the process not really minding what I made. I used a lot of the wool but also added in some ribbon and the roving. I’ve never used it before and it took up a lot of space in the little loom.

Crafting with the loom reminded me a little of being a child. I’m not sure why as I don’t remember having a loom but I must have! I’m tempted to re-thread it and let my children have a go. It’s a fun craft and I like the idea of them trying it out too.
