Every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new. The last few kits haven’t been terribly inspiring and yet again my heart sank when I saw the latest kit – a Jersey Yarn Macrame Wall Art by Wool and the Gang. I know that macrame has made a bit of a come back but it’s not on my list of crafts to try – ever. However, I needed a new challenge so got everything out.
Mollie Makes Jersey Yarn Macrame Wall Art
Inside the pack was a piece of dowel and lots of colourful jersey yarn. This was the simplest kit ever, but looking at the finished product I was under no illusion that it would be simple to make.
A few weeks I cut up the yarn according to the instructions and spent a good hour making knots.
It started off looking pretty good, until I added the knots. It didn’t really look like the pictures in the instructions! I think this is why I much prefer taking a workshop than reading someone else’s instructions. I love the Mollie Makes kits but I don’t think I will be finishing off my macrame wall art and hanging it up with pride. My free time is far too short and macrame is not for me!

Oh, I love the look of this, I much prefer visual guidance as well when making things, I always find it’s much easier to grasp. x
This looks like a fun thing to do but I don’t have the patience for written instructions!!! I prefer watching too. Gorgeous colour by the way!
