Exploring Silverstone Interactive Museum with kids

It seems a while since our first visit to Silverstone. With the whole family fans of F1 it was a no-brainer when we received an invitation to Silverstone to take part in their Lap of Lights experience at Christmas. We had so much fun and couldn’t wait to go back and visit the Silverstone Interactive Museum. Exploring Silverstone Interactive Museum with kids The Silverstone Interactive Museum is a great day out for the whole family. The museum is spread across two levels. Upstairs you will find the history of Silverstone, from its mention in the Domesday Book right through to…

Re-visiting Leake Street Tunnel with kids

If you’re looking for somewhere a bit different to take the kids then why not take a walk through the Leake Street Tunnel? It’s free, it changes every time you visit, and it’s really easy to get to from London Waterloo/South Bank. Both of my kids love street art, it’s something we’re always looking out for, and the Leake Street Tunnel is a really accessible venue to take them. Re-visiting Leake Street Tunnel with kids Leake Street and the Leake Street Tunnel are a couple of minutes walk from London Waterloo and the South Bank. Leake Street is a place…

DNA VR: London’s first Virtual Reality Arcade

This week we were invited to try DNA VR, London’s first and largest virtual reality attraction, taking immersive experiences to the next level with venues in Camden, Hammersmith and Battersea Power Station. We visited the Hammersmith venue, just 5 minutes from Hammersmith tube station. DNA VR: London’s First Virtual Reality Arcade DNA VR offers something for everyone. Kids ages 6 and up can test their rhythm with Synth Riders, play shop with Job Simulator, or shoot fruit with (what else?) Shooty Fruity. Those a little older – and feeling a little braver – might like to try their luck to…

    Easter Egg Hunt at Hughenden

It’s a family tradition that each year we take the kids to an Easter Egg Hunt at a National Trust property. Over the years we’ve had some amazing days out, today we were reminiscing about some of our favourites which involved Cadbury’s and the National Trust. They don’t seem to sponsor their Easter Egg Trails any more but we decided to head to our local National Trust property to see what they had to offer this Easter. Easter Egg Hunt at Hughenden We’re big fans of Hughenden Manor, which is our local National Trust house and gardens. It’s very dog-friendly…

    d20 Watford Board Game Cafe

Last summer we discovered our first board game cafe, a fun mixture of a cafe where you can choose from hundreds of board games to play. Our first visit was to the Snacks and Ladders Board Game Cafe on the Isle of Wight and we’ve been on the look out for something nearer to us ever since. Thankfully we discovered the d20 Watford Board Game Cafe and visited for our sons’ birthday. d20 Watford Board Game Cafe The d20 Watford Board Game Cafe is on Queen’s Road in Watford. We booked a table but you can just turn up without…

Exploring the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway

Already half term feels a lifetime away, I can’t believe that only 7 days ago we were exploring somewhere new. It’s been a couple of yers since we visited a miniature railway. My son was obsessed with trains when he was little but this has now been replaced with Minecraft and YouTube. Luckily my husband still enjoys trains, so we decided to stop off for a trip on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway last week. Exploring the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway The Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway is a 15 inch gauge light railway in Kent, operating steam and internal combustion locomotives. The 13 mile line…

    Exploring Pevensey Castle with kids

Over the weekend we were lucky to explore Pevensey Castle with our kids. A few days previously we had been to Battle Abbey, the site of the Battle of Hastings between the Normans and the Saxons. We were excited to visit Pevensey Castle. Exploring Pevensey Castle with kids Pevensey Castle is in the pretty village of Pevensey, 16 miles from Battle. It is managed by English Heritage although you can walk inside the walls of the castle for free. There is a small car park outside the castle walls and we were very excited to walk through the castle entrance…

Exploring 1066 country and Battle Abbey

It’s been a while since we had some time away exploring new places but this weekend we left London to explore 1066 country. My son has been studying 1066 and the Battle of Hastings so we thought it would be fun to go and see the site where the  Battle of Hastings took place and explore the surrounding area too. Exploring 1066 country and Battle Abbey Battle Abbey is owned by English Heritage and I decided to book our tickets online before we went. Our tickets covered the battlefield site and the ruins of the partially ruined Benedictine abbey in…

A trip to God’s Own Junkyard, Walthamstow

This year we started a family bucket list – a list of things we want to try and do or visit. Time goes so quickly that we thought this would help us focus on making some happy memories as a family. With a clear day we decided to tick off a trip to God’s Own Junkyard, Walthamstow. A trip to God’s Own Junkyard, Walthamstow God’s Own Junkyard is a really quirky place, a funky art store/cafe and bar featuring colourful neon and lightbulb signs and other eclectic pieces. Apparently not only is it home to the oldest signmakers in London,…
