How to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee in London with kids

How to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee in London with kids

In June, Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee (a whopping 70 years of service). The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Central Weekend takes place between 2nd – 5th June with events taking place all around the country.

Trooping the Colour (Saturday 2nd June)

Trooping the Colour takes place annually to celebrate the Queen’s birthday . More than 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians will come together in the traditional Parade to mark The Queen’s official birthday.

Platinum Party at the Palace (4th June)

Broadcast live on BBC One, BBC iPlayer and supported across the entire BBC network, the Platinum Party at the Palace on Saturday, 4th June, will bring together the world’s biggest entertainers to perform in front of Her Majesty The Queen at Buckingham Palace.

The Platinum Jubilee Pageant (5th June)

The Platinum Jubilee Pageant will have all the excitement and spectacle of an international parade and carnival. The Pageant will combine street arts, theatre, music, circus, carnival and costume to celebrate Her Majesty’s unwavering duty, love of the natural world and dedication to the Commonwealth.

Superbloom at the Tower of London (1st June – 18th September 2022)

In spring 2022, over 20 million seeds will be sown in the moat at the Tower of London from carefully designed seed mixes. From June to September, the flower display will erupt into new colours and patterns creating a dramatic and engaging experience.

Jubilee Reflections Flotilla (Saturday 24th September)

I love the sound of the Platinum Jubilee Reflections Flotilla as part of Totally Thames 2022 this September. The event will capture the enchantment of the river at night as illuminated boats float by, and allow reflection on HM Queen Elizabeth’s reign.

Celebrating the Platinum Jubilee in Hillingdon

A number of events are taking place across the London Borough of Hillingdon to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The council will be holding a number of events and activities to mark this special occasion, including a picnic in Fassnidge Park and a beacon trail for families leading to the lighting of the Queen’s beacon at the Civic Centre.

Jubilee Treasure Trail and Picnic, Eastcote House Gardens, Pinner (Saturday 4th June 11am to 4pm)

A special treasure hunt trail hosted by the Friends of Eastcote House Gardens, suitable for all ages and themed around the Platinum Jubilee and the wonderful surroundings of the gardens. There will also be a special picnic to celebrate Eastcote House Heritage Day.

Platinum Jubilee Fun at Manor Farm, Ruislip (Sunday 5th June 10am to 3pm)

Visit the Duck Pond Market and take part in a miniature street party with bunting, crafts and games at the Manor Farm House.

To help celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this June, residents wishing to mark the occasion by holding a street party to celebrate ‘The Big Lunch’ on Sunday 5th June 2022 can apply to the council for free public liability insurance and road closures where permitted.

I’m not sure what we’ll be doing yet but I’m sure there will be afternoon tea party somewhere. Will there be as many limited edition food products as there was for the Diamond Jubilee? I remember buying quite a few souvenir tins of Golden Syrup so fingers crossed there will be some similar products in the supermarkets this year too. So far I’ve snapped up gorgeous limited edition tin of shortbread from M&S. They had a small display of limited edition products but they don’t seem available on their website yet.

There is plenty going on to help to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee in London with kids. I will update this post if I see anything else.
