    Monday Happy Things {Week 401}

    Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to sit down and write. I was really tired after our amazing half term adventures so most of last week was a bit of a blur. Monday Happy Things {Week 401} The hot weather last week was exhausting so it didn’t feel like we did much.…

    Exploring Bembridge Fort with kids

    Despite having grown up on the Isle of Wight I didn’t know it was possible to take a guided tour of Bembridge Fort which is owned by the National Trust. We recently spent a week on the Isle of Wight and booked a load of fun things to do with the kids. If you’re looking for something a little different to do then why not book yourself on a tour of Bembridge Fort? It’s on the top of Culver Down with the most amazing views over the Island. Exploring Bembridge Fort with kids It’s important to note that access to…

    Platinum Jubilee hoop embroidery

    Platinum Jubilee hoop embroidery from my Cotton Clara Hoop Club Box 21. The subscription box contained two hoops projects, an embroidery sampler featuring hearts, and the Platinum Jubilee hoop embroidery. I really liked the Platinum Jubilee hoop. I was pretty restrained with the amount of money I spent on Jubilee memorabilia and ended up with a lovely souvenir tin from M&S and a limited edition tin of Tate & Lyle’s Golden Syrup which I couldn’t resist. After the contents are consumed I can re-use both to store sewing notions and pens, so nothing will be wasted. We had a lot…

    Exploring The Queen and her Corgis trail

    Yesterday we went into London to explore The Queen and her Corgi’s trail. The trail was set up to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, celebrating the Queen’s closest companions, her fleet of corgis. The trail runs throughout the London Heritage Quarter,  from Victoria Station to Westminster and the Northbank. Exploring The Queen and her Corgis trail Did you know that Queen Elizabeth owned her first corgi when she was just seven, it was called Dookie. During her reign she has owned over 3o corgis, all of them Pembroke Welsh Corgis. She has also owned cocker spaniels and the dachshund cross…

    The Secret Life of Birds {giveaway}

    We love this time of year. The garden is full of birds and wildlife and the children love being outside. We love to share books about nature and were recently introduced to The Secret Life of Birds by Moira Butterfield, a gorgeous illustrated book for children. The Secret Life of Birds by Moira Butterfield Did you know that birds navigate by invisible pathways in the sky, that they can call to each other in thousands of different ways and they can be as tall as a fridge, such as the male ostrich, or as small as a little finger, such…

    How to make a cushion for your tablet

    I love making handmade gifts. If you enjoy baking or crafting then it seems the natural step to make something using those skills. When we recently visited friends my daughter whipped up a batch of dog biscuits to take, and I love that she is so thoughtful and resourceful. Handmade gifts are fun to make because you can be mindful both in the process and in the giving. I’ve always found crafting such a relaxing hobby and today I wanted to share our DIY tablet cushion. My children love their screen time and I’m going to show you how to…

It’s a post I always love to sit down and write. Monday Happy Things {Week 399} We had a lovely half term and were fortunate to spend a few days on the Isle of Wight. The weather was amazing and we had some great days out. We found an amazing Platinum Jubilee…

    Little London buildings bunting

    I’m not quite sure how long I’ve had this cute Little London bunting set but it seemed the perfect make to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. Our street is taking part in The Big Jubilee Lunch as part of the official celebrations for HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend – 2-5 June 2022 – and The Big Lunch will once again kick start a whole Month of Community. Our street has great community spirit and it seemed only natural that we would come together to celebrate this special weekend. As well as a delicious afternoon tea, we’ll be celebrating with prizes…
