Little Stitchy Bee wooden ornaments

December crafting

Posted on December 29, 2023December 31, 2023 by jenny

It’s the last month of the year and I’m happy to look back over all my makes from this year. Looking back over what I’ve made helps me realise all the little stitchy projects I’ve completed, as well as the ones I haven’t. It’s definitely something I’m going to carry on writing in 2024.

December crafting

There was a definite festive feel to my crafting in the month of December. This year I started early on my handmade gifts and it really paid off as I had some time left for Christmassy makes.

I stitched 7 small initial cross stitch hoops. These were a lot of fun to stitch and I added them to Christmas stockings and gift bags. After we had opened our stockings we added the embroidery hoops to the Christmas tree.

This was the last of my festive makes and I was able to make some new Christmas decorations for our home. The first was the Cotton Clara Hoop Club table runner. This is a subscription box and I was excited to stitch the bows as it was a lovely, simple project to stitch. It only took a few hours and quickly made it on to the table where it’s been all month.

I also stitched some of the Little Stitchy Bee wooden embroidered ornaments. I saw these last year but didn’t want to pay the postage costs from America. I saw them again this year – and still loved them – so ordered them. They were fun to stitch and I’ve stitched 6 of the 8, the other two are going away until next year. They are backed with white felt so you can’t see my messy stitches and will look great on the Christmas tree.

I received some sweet felt ornaments as part of the Benzie ornament exchange. Last month I mentioned that I stitched a felt Christmas jumper and I received a felt partridge and pear which are really lovely. Benzie are hosting a Valentine Exchange if you fancy joining in the fun.

A few weeks ago I reviewed Macrame Christmas but I didn’t have any supplies to make the projects. I ordered some gorgeous coloured cord and wooden beads and they finally arrived. I will be making an early start on my decorations for next year!

Reflecting on the year’s makes is such a heartwarming way to celebrate creativity and achievements! The December crafting recap, especially the 7 small initial cross stitch hoops, adds a lovely festive touch. Starting early on handmade gifts is a brilliant idea, and the thoughtfulness of adding the embroidery hoops to Christmas stockings and the tree is a charming detail. Excited to hear more about your stitching adventures in 2024!
