Crafts for adults

April crafting

Coronation of King Charles III hoop

Last month was quite slow for me. As the days have been longer, and the weather warmer, we’ve been out more so there has been less time to craft. There was also a 2 week Easter break where we enjoyed a few days exploring the beautiful city of York.

Each month I write about the things I have been making. In April I bought a Coronation hoop kit to commemorate the Coronation of King Charles III this weekend. Although there were two colourways I opted for the red embroidery thread so this is my first piece of redwork. I think it makes a fun souvenir for our weekend of celebrations.

I also stitched a sweet little Kings Guard decoration. Unfortunately I did not photograph this and have already given it to my Mum for her Coronation decorations.

Although I made good progress with the Happiness mini quilt from Pretty Fabrics and Trims I haven’t really picked it up since. I usually enjoy the hand quilting part but we just haven’t had a lot of evenings where I can sit and sew. The kids are going to bed later and later, which means I don’t really feel like doing anything! I have hand stitched a few of the squares and am aiming to do more in May.

I have been helping my daughter embroider her Dogs, Dogs, Dogs hoop. She loves dogs and this is a really fun pattern. She is enjoying choosing her embroidery threads for each dog.

I also have a couple of other projects. I’ve had this London X Maptote embroidery kit a while but am finding it so fiddly as the stitches are so small. This is actually quite a good piece of embroidery as there will be so much focus on London this weekend so I may work on this one again!

I also received the latest Craftpod subscription box for my birthday in March. It included two floral-themed spring projects. The first is a Magnolia Embroidery, featuring two blossoming flowers and some very sweet unopened buds. The second project is a trio of miniature Spring embroideries framed in the cutest oval hoops. I just haven’t really felt like starting any of these! I may put this box away until next Spring, we’ll see.

Have you been stitching anything lately? I would love to hear what you’ve been making.
