We’ve discovered some amazing places to walk our puppy near us. I’m not sure we would have found quite so many pretty places on our doorstep if it wasn’t for the puppy. He loves going on a walk, especially if he can run through long grass. We recently re-visited one of our favourite walks to tick some more geocaches off our list. We went out after dinner when it was cooler and came across the most wonderful fields of moon, or oxeye, daisies in West London. They were so pretty shining in the late afternoon light.
We definitely have a thing for fields of wildflowers and just loved spending time exploring them. This month we were lucky to find a poppy field near where we live, and over the last few months we have enjoyed carpets of bluebells and rhododendrons too. Thankfully the family are happy to indulge me in my love of the great outdoors.
Moon daisies are also known as oxeye daisies, but I’ve also seen them called the horse daisy or dog daisy. It’s a grassland perennial and our largest native member of the daisy family. They flower from May to September and are really beautiful, with each stem topped by white petals surrounding a yellow disc. The moon daisy is a favourite in our wildflower meadows but can be found just about everywhere.
We found our fields of moon daisies in Ickenham, West London and there were several fields of them. They’re called moon daisies because they seem to glow in the moonlight of a midsummer evening. We think we found the best place to photograph them if you are looking for a really stunning wildflower display.
They were so pretty to look at. The puppy really enjoyed jumping through them. He’s quite a little dog and will bunny hop through long grass and flowers, it’s very cute to watch. He was also camouflaged really well amongst the white petals.

That is a beautiful place! A field full of pretty white daisies! I wish we could go someplace like that, but the lockdown is still in effect in our area so we still have to patiently wait for the day when we can go back to our regular activities.
Those daisies look amazing, I don’t think I have ever seen any that big. In my local park the bluebells and fox glove are out in full force and it looks amazing x
