Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new. Issue 109 came with a sweet felt craft kit to make a lion – perfect!
I’m a bit behind. Issue 107 contained a crochet kit which I donated to a friend as I can’t crochet. Issue 108 contained a paper flower wall hanging kit which you would have thought would be right up my street. I started but never finished it. So I was excited when I heard that the next kit would be a felt-y project, definitely something I could finally make!
Felt Dandy Lion {a weekend sewing project}
I’ve always enjoyed sewing with felt and I immediately knew this would be a project I would make straightaway. Made by Annabella Cahwje at whatacurlylife.etsy.com, the kit included felt, embroidery thread, yarn, a needle and toy stuffing.
I cut out the templates, cut my felt pieces and started stitching.
It was a really simple project and I stitched over a few hours whilst catching up on Netflix. I need more little projects like this as I’m really struggling with bigger projects at the moment. The mane was made with thick yarn and I enjoyed adding it on his head. I think he’s super cute and a great addition to my little felt animal collection.
