AD/Power Hungry Pets from Exploding Kittens

Posted on April 12, 2024April 15, 2024 by jenny

We were recently gifted a copy of Power Hungry Pets from Exploding Kittens. We play a lot of board games and already have a few games from Exploding Kittens, so were excited to try Power Hungry Pets over the Easter holidays.

Power Hungry Pets from Exploding Kittens

A strategy game for people who hate strategy games, Power Hungry Pets is a reimagining of Love Letter from Z-Man Games. Featuring Exploding Kittens’ adorable characters and signature artwork, this simple strategy game culminates in a mad grab for power.

Each card features a number and a hilarious way to backstab, steal from, or obliterate the other players. Players hold one card at all times, draw a second card during their turn, and must decide which to keep and which to play – requiring only one decision at a time.

In the end, the player left with the highest number card wins and takes a token.

We found this game quick to learn and fun to play. When we read through the instructions we were surprised that you only ever held one card, but we soon got the hang of it. The graphics are fun and we loved the different pet cards, definitely power hungry 🙂

Little Sis loves a card game so we’ve only played the 2 player version so far. However it won’t be long until we play this at family game night with all four of us. She’s a bit of a demon with strategy games so this was just the right type of game to engage her. With only 2 players the first to 3 tokens wins so this is a quick game.

Essential information:

What’s inside the box? 21 cards, 7 tokens and instructions

Power Hungry Pets is priced £15.00

Perfect for ages 7 and over

Can be played by 2-8 players

A game takes around 15 minutes
