Mindful mini pennant decor

mindful embroidery

Regular readers will know that every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have had a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new.

Mindful mini pennant decor

Mollie Makes issue 101 included a cute mini pennant craft kit: embroidery thread, yarn, printed fabric, needle and dowel. The printed fabric made this a quick and easy project (although it seemed to take me a few days to make this!).

I stitched the printed letters with the two different coloured embroidery threads, then added detail with the stars and dots.

I really wish I did more embroidery as I find it really relaxing.

I cut around the printed panel and placed it right sides together with the plain backing piece. I hand stitched around it although could have done it a lot quicker with my sewing machine.

To finish it off I stitched it around the wooden dowel and added a little pom pom I made using a mini pom pom maker (not included). I try to be mindful with my crafting so this was a perfect for me. I’ve hung it up on my peg board so I can see it when I’m crafting, it’s a sweet addition amongst all my stitched embroidery hoops.
