With some decent Spring sunshine finally here I decided it was time to bring out the Spring stitching projects. Take a look at what I made.
Spring pennant kit from love embroidery magazine
This is another of those projects which has been sitting around for a while (as you can tell from the old table cloth backdrop I photographed this kit on). I love a little pennant and knew this would be a fun cover gift to stitch and hang on my desk.
The Spring pennant kit was designed by Jessie Newton of The Wild Doe for love embroidery magazine, issue 51 from 2024. The kit included a wooden dowel, printed cotton fabric and thread (in brown, green, pink and yellow), so all you needed to provide was a basic sewing kit.
I gave the fabric a quick iron before placing it in a small hoop. The kit is stitched using 4 simple stitches – backstitch, french knot, lazy daisy and satin stitch.
First I stitched the letters, replacing the brown thread with black.
Then it was time for the lazy daisy flowers – I just love those lazy daisy stitches, they always look so pretty.
This kit didn’t take long to stitch which was the perfect little project for me. Once I had finished stitching the letters and flowers I was able to stitch the banner together. I used my sewing machine to stitch the two pieces together, before adding the dowel and hand stitching it in place.
What do you think? I love anything floral right now and this is a sweet addition to my crafting space.
