What I made: August 2025

Looking back over August and it feels like I had a lot of time for stitching, despite having two teenagers hanging around all month.

What I made in August 2025

At the beginning of the month I completed the MakeBox Modern English Paper Piecing Ladybird kit. I made half of the ladybird a while ago and placed it on a large banner so I could see it all the time. I got tired of seeing half a ladybird so was happy to complete it. I stitched around the EPP ladybird, stitching it to the banner, with its leg slightly hanging over the edge. It’s a lovely, colourful piece to have hanging in the dining room.

I cut out my fabric for the Alice Caroline Gingham Patchwork Quilt Kit I have. I love the look of this quilt, but I couldn’t quite bring myself to sew the long lines of fabric. So I’ve put this kit away for a while.

We went away for a few weeks and I took two embroidery projects with me. I finished my Summer Craftpod project which featured a beach scene on layers of gorgeous linen.

The Hand Embroidery Kit Spring Sampler by Rosita was the only sewing gift I received this year. I took this way as a back up project, and thought it was pretty impressive I was able to start it so quickly. However, I’ve been having niggling thoughts that I should be starting some of the many Christmas projects I want to make this year, so we will see how much progress I make.

Looking forward to the last few months of the year and there are several Christmas projects I want to focus on:

Pretty Fabrics and Trims 2024 Advent Box – I received this last year and made the smaller projects, the bigger project I found too overwhelming as November and December are such crazy busy months. I’m hoping to start this earlier

Cotton Clara hoop – I started this last year but ran out of time

Little Stitchy Bee wooden embroidered ornaments – I started these last year but ran out of time

Sew Yeah gingerbread felt village – I bought all the supplies for this but didn’t know where to start, hopefully this is the year to make them, as I hate purchasing projects I never make.
