    A day at the farm

Last week we were invited to Kentish Town City Farm to meet Paul Lindley who founded Ella’s Kitchen. He’s a lovely man and remembered we had previously met at an event at the ELC last year. Ella’s Kitchen always seem to be bringing out tasty new treats for our little ones and their latest is a new dairy range. We met at Kentish Town City Farm and I was a little nervous about going there as the toddler shows little interest in animals. He can name them all and is happy watching them on cBeebies, he’s just not so interested…

    Lego biscuits

It’s that time of the month, the PinAddicts Pinterest Challenge. The idea is to choose something from your Pinterest boards to create and link up each month. We are currently embracing all things Lego so when I saw Lego biscuits on Pinterest I knew I had to try making my own version of them. For the biscuits I turned to my faithful Biscuiteers recipe for plain biscuits as the recipe has never let me down. When I had rolled out the dough I cut out a number of biscuits using Lego bricks to make sure they were the right shape. Such…

    LEGO Batman 2: DC Heroes

It’s not often I’m offered a product that I know my husband would love but Warner Brothers recently asked if we would be interested in a copy of LEGO Batman 2: DC Heroes to review. As I mention all the time *we love Lego* so it was a big fat yes please! Batman and Robin return in LEGO® Batman™ 2: DC Super Heroes, the highly-anticipated sequel to the best-selling LEGO® videogame of all time, which to date has sold more than 11 million units worldwide.  This time the Dynamic Duo join forces with other famous DC super heroes including Superman, Wonder…

    Letter box cakes

It’s not every day that I receive an email asking if I would love to review cake, I wish it happened more frequently. However, the lovely people at Baker Days invited me to try out their personalised cakes, for any occasion, which fit through your letter box. Just in case you don’t believe me here’s a photograph of the cake we received, in it’s packaging, in our letter box. It’s obviously not going to be a huge cake but it’s enough for a family or office celebration. They also make a larger cake if you’re greedy. I chose a design from the…

    Ventnor charity shops

I’ve mentioned before how fantastic the Isle of Wight is for charity shops. We’re fortunate we have family that live there so I have lots of opportunities to shop. Saturday was the Round the Island Yacht Race  so we had an amazing view of the yachts heading round the Island. Ventnor is a great place to spend a couple of hours. It’s full of quirky vintage and charity shops, as well as the beautiful Art Deco Winter Gardens which holds the occasional sale where we picked up this gorgeous vintage wooden chair a couple of years ago. There’s also plenty for…

Giveaway: Fisher Price Cars 2 Spiral Speedway

I can’t be the only parent in the world who loves buying toys for their children. I don’t think you ever really grow bored of toys and children are a great excuse for forgetting the washing up and having some fun! In fact, I’m happy to admit my house is a mess because I’d rather help the toddler build towers, have car crashes or his recent favourite, race cars down the hallway! Today I have a great giveaway thanks to Argos who have offered the Disney Pixar Cars 2 Spiral Speedway for one lucky reader of the gingerbread house. This…

    What’s in it?

I’ve been having a good think about the food I give the children recently. It’s really hard ensuring two children of different ages get the nutrition they need. The 7 month old has really taken to weaning but unfortunately at the expense of her milk. She’d much rather have some healthy fromage frais or pureed fruit than a boring bottle of milk. The toddler is going through a difficult stage. He never wants to eat the food I’ve lovingly cooked but will happily sidle up to me when I’m eating my microwaved dinner and try to pinch something from it!…

Day Zero – Month 21 (June)

On the 19 September 2010 I started a Day Zero list: a place to record your goals, discover new challenges, and gain motivation to achieve them. I have a list of 100 things I want to do over 1001 days. The list is due to be competed by 16 June 2013. I’ve started writing my Day Zero updates every other month as my progress seems to be slowing down somewhat. 39. See Keane play live I was really lucky to get tickets to see Keane play live at the o2 Academy in Brixton. I love Keane and they’re the only…
