Christmas Countdown embroidery {Part 2}

Posted on December 15, 2025December 15, 2025 by jenny

It’s been a while since my last update and it’s taken me longer to finish the next six embroideries than I thought. November and December are such busy months and I haven’t had as much time as I wanted I would to sit and stitch.

Christmas Countdown embroidery {Part 2}

The second set of embroideries has been fun to stitch. They have been: cut paper snowflakes, make homemade crackers, build a snowman, ice the cake, read a festive book and make a wreath. We’ve done all of these activities over the years, but I’m really happy to say our Christmas celebrations are a lot simpler now the children are older.

As much as I love a handmade Christmas I’ve also discovered you don’t have to do everything. I’m trying to savour the simpler things, such as making my own mincemeat (currently sitting in a lot of brandy), a trip into London to see the Christmas lights, and watching roughly half an hour of my favourite Christmas films (so far I’ve seen a bit of Home Alone 2 and part of The Holiday). I am counting down until I can finish work and relax.

Christmas Countdown embroidery

I’m not great with long projects but I am enjoying stitching my Christmas Countdown panel. Last night I told my husband that I would be able to finish it before Christmas, then I thought that was a very rash thing to say! Also a little pointless, as it’s not a gift and just something for *me* to enjoy.

The Christmas cards have been sent, the Christmas food ordered, and fingers crossed for tine to relax and stitch some more.

Pretty Fabrics and Trims tin

I purchased a very cute tin from the Pretty Fabrics and Trims shop and it’s great for holding on to my Aurifil threads. I will be needing them to hand quilt this piece at some point.
