Can I say that we’re getting a tiny bit fed up of the British heatwave? It’s only the first week of the Summer holidays and I didn’t really expect to be spending so much time indoors. We’ve gone to the park first thing in the day before it gets too hot but otherwise we’re staying indoors and crafting and playing. Thankfully we were sent some craft supplies from Bostik which has kept us busy. July is a great month for flowers in the garden, luckily we haven’t had a hosepipe ban enforced yet. The children love to plant seeds so…

We love a good picture book here at the gingerbread house. My 6 year old loves to read but still prefers to share a picture book with us (I hope this never ends!). The perfect pants are hard to find for someone shaped like me, Could Octopants be just the job? Why not dive in and see ..? There are all-in ones for urchins and slipper-socks for eels…but will Octopus ever find a pair of pants to fit? A hilarious rhyming romp, packed with underwater underwear! Suzy Senior’s storytelling charm combine with Claire Powell’s vibrant, bright and colourful cartoon-esque illustrations…

Photo by Steve Huntington on Unsplash Are you looking forward to the children breaking up from school and the Summer holidays starting next week? This school year has just flown by and I am so excited about spending 6 weeks with my children at home. Having recently returned to work we are looking forward to spending some time on the house. House work is the first thing I neglect when I’m working outside of the home! Simple ways to refresh a family bathroom A few years ago we had a new kitchen put into our house, now we are looking at refreshing our…

Earlier this year I told you about SuperZings. SuperZings are everyday objects brought to life in a fun, comic ‘Hero vs Villain’ rivalry theme. They live together in Kaboom City. Clad in iconic superhero capes and eye-masks, there are more than 80 multi-coloured figures to collect in total, each with a matching ‘rival’ which adds a fun new dimension. My son really enjoys collecting SuperZings so was delighted to be sent a bundle of them to see him through the summer holidays. He loves anything he can collect and swap with friends, and if there’s a checklist – even better! You can…

We’ve been sent some lovely toys to review recently. My children have been having so much fun opening and playing with them, I think they realise they are pretty lucky! My 6 year old just loves L.O.L. Surprise. These are the perfect unboxing toys, consisting of a toy wrapped in surprises. We’ve reviewed a few L.O.L. Monday to Friday between the hours of 9 and 3 are very much ‘my’ time. This means it’s my time to do the food shopping, clean the house, change the bed sheets, and do all those jobs which come up each week. The busiest week included buying both children something red, white or blue to wear to their Royal Wedding parties at school, sorting out donations for the School Fair, tackling the ironing, making bunting for the Royal Wedding party at school, paying for the Greek workshop and picking up a new Cubs outfit for my son. After school revolves…

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a great weekend and are enjoying the start of the school summer holidays. The weather has been lovely all week (again!) – I’m actually getting a little bored of saying that Each week I start off by writing my Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing. Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things I’m really excited for the start of the…

A few weeks ago we took the MBNA Thames Clipper back from the O2 into Central London after our visit to Dinosaurs in the Wild. It is such a lovely way to travel and you get to see a different view of London. My children were so excited to see all the buildings along the Thames and we promised them we would come back and have a day out to Greenwich and the Cutty Sark during the school holidays. A few weeks ago we were offered some complimentary tickets so planned our trip. London is made up of many small…

Over the last few weeks we’ve been experiencing a mini-heatwave in the UK which is quite nice. Records have been smashed several times and we’re all enjoying being outside after school. The children have re-discovered their playhouse and I love watching them discover forgotten toys which have been buried inside it. This week they’ve been den building in the garden, this can be a really low-cost activity which keeps them busy over and over again during the summer holidays. I’ve really enjoyed sharing my ideas for a low cost Summer which include how to make a Summer smash book, trying out painting…
