I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing. Monday Happy List {Week 268} Yay, it’s December! November flew by for us and now we are counting down until Christmas. Thankfully I’ve been super organised this year and feel in control of the gift giving and food ordering. We have some lovely treats lined up for December which should…

We had so much fun with the painted gnome rocks we decorated earlier this month that we thought we would try another gnome craft for kids. Paper plate gnome craft supplies: White paper plate Red coloured card Pink foam Scissors Bostik PVA Glue Bostik Foam Pads How to make a paper plate gnome This is a great craft for kids who love gnomes. My children love cheeky little gnomes, especially the ones who hide behind their hats. We used a white paper plate for the base of this craft, placing it on a sheet of coloured red card to guide…

We’re so excited and ready for Advent tomorrow. Advent is the start of Christmas for us. We’re ready with our home-made advent calendars and I can’t wait to see the children’s reaction when they see their personalised advent calendars. My children are super excited for the start of Advent as not only do they get an advent calendar (or two!) but our house elves will arrive and get up to lots of mischief. I love coming up with ideas to keep my children busy at this time of year and enjoyed creating our colour your own Christmas bunting. Colour Your…

We love nothing more than getting home from school and playing a board game during the winter months. It is so dark during November and December that it’s quite nice to close up the shutters and gather round the table to play a board game together. We love being part of Asmodee’s Blogger Board Game club and were delighted to receive Ticket to Ride London from Days of Wonder to play at home. We all really enjoy the Ticket to Ride series of board games. We already have the original Ticket to Ride and Ticket to Ride Europe. There’s also…

We’re always on the lookout for seasonal activity to keep the children busy at this time of year. It’s getting dark by the time we get home from school so it’s nice to close the shutters and get together to craft round the table. You know that we love the smell of gingerbread all year round, it’s not just for Christmas you know! We’ve incorporated gingerbread into so many crafts and activities over the years. It’s difficult to say which are our favourite gingerbread crafts although our gingerbread playdough recipe is something that gets used again and again. Playdough is…

We’ve recently been thinking about moving house. We’ve been looking online and viewed a few properties but decided that we’re going to stay where we are for now. Instead we will be spending the winter doing a few jobs which we’ve put off. These include getting the drive done, building a fitted wardrobe in our bedroom and generally having a big old de-clutter. We had new flooring put in our living room a few months ago and it completely changed the look of the room. It’s a lovely room with big windows at each end. We had to empty the…

Disclosure – this is a collaborative post The Christmas countdown has really begun in our house. We are all ready for Advent which marks the start of the Christmas period for us. We all enjoy the festive period and I have to admit I’ve already put the Christmas bedding on our beds and baked my first batch of mince pies! It’s pretty natural that children have high expectations of the presents they are going to receive. My daughter is in Year 3 and wrote a letter to Father Christmas yesterday. I had to give her a stamped envelope as her…

We spent our honeymoon exploring Scandinavia. We loved Denmark, Sweden and Norway and hope we can go back one day. As well as lots of happy memories we came back with quite a few souvenirs from the different cities we visited, many of which were scandinavian gnomes, also known as tomtes or nisse. A tomte is a mythological creature from Scandinavian folklore, typically associated with the winter solstice and the Christmas season. As our honeymoon took place in late October it probably wasn’t surprising that the shops were full of these little creatures! We’ve faithfully put them out each year…

I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing. It’s beginning to feel a little Christmassy around here. I changed my blog header to a festive version, baked mince pies and put the Christmas bedding on! Monday Happy List {Week 267} Last week I went to see Olafur Eliasson: In Real Life at Tate Modern with my husband. I…
