Lockdown is going on for a long time. I know we shouldn’t complain as we are safe at home but it can be tiring walking the same paths every day. A few weeks into lockdown we tried geocaching again. This is something we have dipped into over the last 10 years and have always enjoyed. Ideas for making walks with kids fun There are a number of different things we’ve tried to keep our kids entertained on walks. Our children love being outside but the idea of just going for a walk doesn’t excite them. There are a few different…

I’ve had some time to myself this week. I put my #sewalittlehappiness sampler to one side, and made some mosaics from a crafty subscription box. I really need some time to myself, especially after a day of home learning with my two. Since we’ve been at home I’ve treated myself to a few subscription boxes. I love having a craft I know I can finish in a few days. It seems a long time since I made my mosaic rainbow in a workshop. It’s one of my favourite makes and has been proudly on display in our window of rainbows,…

Our first picnic of the year took place at Langley Park. Now we are allowed to venture out further from home, we thought we would love to visit somewhere new. We’re frequent visitors to Black Park which is the other side of the A412, but had never visited Langley Park before. We packed the puppy and a picnic and set off to explore somewhere new. A trip to Langley Park Country Park, Bucks Langley Park is one of Buckinghamshire’s best kept secrets. Langley Park is steeped in history and a nationally important haven for wildlife. The car park is quite…

We’ve seen little fairy gardens cropping us all around us since lockdown began. They range from simple craft stick fairy doors to a really elaborate one which has fairies doing PE with Joe Wicks, and a window full of rainbow posters for the NHS. They’ve inspired my own children to build a fairy garden and we love seeing people stop to look at it. There are so many things you can add to a fairy garden. We used supplies we already had as non-essential shops are closed but made some fairy garden painted rocks to go in it. Painting rocks is…

I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s usually a post I love to write but obviously life has changed considerably for us and everyone else in the UK over the last few weeks. Life is strange at the moment for everyone but I still want to try and record some of our happier moments. We were all super happy to pack away the home…

Have you noticed that your child’s play is mirroring the real world at the moment? Perhaps I shouldn’t have been surprised, but I recently overheard my children playing and there was a lot of ‘social distancing’ going on with their toys. I know that it’s probably their minds trying to understand the situation and I hope it helps them deal with their emotions about not seeing their friends and family, not going to school and all the new rules when we do venture out. Playmobil figures are perfect for this kind of small world play, the figures are moveable and…

With an inquisitive 8 year old you probably won’t be surprised that she loves to make and play with slime. I think slime is a great STEM toy (one which utilises science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and it seems to appeal to her inner scientist! We were recently offered the new So Slime Tie-Dye kit and I couldn’t wait to see what she thought of it. She has a few of the So Slime kits and they are great value fun for kids! So Slime Tie-Dye review The So Slime Tie-Dye kit contained 3 clear transparent slimes, 3 bottles of colour,…

Disclosure – post in collaboration with Design Bundles Can you believe I’ve had my Cricut Maker for over a year now? It’s my favourite cutting machine and I love looking for my next craft to make. I’ve been kept busy during lockdown with my crafting and I’m so thankful that I already had enough equipment and materials to keep me busy crafting. With birthdays and anniversaries, I’m never short of people to make for. The only thing I don’t have are the svg files to use on my machine. Why SVG files are an essential tool for crafters I’ve written a…

We’ve had our puppy for 6 months now and we wouldn’t be without him. The first few weeks were quite tough, but this enforced period at home has given us an amazing opportunity to get to know each other properly. Unfortunately our puppy training session were cancelled due to the lockdown, but we’re muddling along quite well. We decided it was the right time for our family to get a dog and he’s been a great comfort whilst we’re all at home. It’s given us a purpose to get out for a walk every day and the children are always…
