Rockpool from Gibsons Games {review}

Rockpool from Gibsons Games

Board games have been a real life saver for our family over the last few months. We’re still carrying on with our home learning (3 more days!) and playing games together is a great way to learn in a fun way.  We’re fortunate to have lots of board games but were delighted to receive a bundle of games from Gibsons Game to review.

Rockpool from Gibsons Games

The first game we picked to play was Rockpool, it’s eye-catching due to the shape of the box! It’s a fun game that encourages players to collect shells and clean up rubbish from the beach before the tide comes in. It helps children (and adults too!) consider the impact of littering on beaches and the destructive effect of plastic waste in our oceans.

Rockpool from Gibsons Games

The game was easy to set up. You choose your team which consists of 5 child cards and 1 dog card. The rockpool board is placed in the middle of the players, and the remaining cards shuffled and placed in piles around it.

You take it in turns to pick a card from the pile and go rock pooling with your friends and their dog. You collect shells and clean up rubbish before the tide comes in. It’s a fun game which you can easily learn as you play. You take it in turns to pick a card, trying to collect your favourite shell (the dog can get involved too!). If you pick a wave card it will wash away the contents of the rockpool.

The player with the most teammates paddling in the pool win the game.

It didn’t take us long to learn the rules. There are quite a lot of different cards so we kept the rules nearby so we could keep checking what they all meant. It’s quite a quick game to play so we’ve had quite a few games as it’s nice and easy to set up and play.

Both my 8 and 10 year old enjoyed playing it. It’s made us really want to visit a real beach and go rock pooling soon!

Essential information:

What’s inside the box? 36 team cards, 248 shell,/creature/wave cards, game board, and instructions

Rockpool is priced £13.00

Perfect for ages 6 and over

Can be played by 2-6 players

A game takes around 10-15 minutes

    This sounds like a great game. It’s one I’ve never heard of before. I like that it teaches kids about the environment x
