Rebel Girls jigsaw puzzles from Gibsons

AD/ Rebel Girls jigsaw puzzles from Gibsons

Posted on July 16, 2020November 3, 2021 by jenny

Rebel Girls is an award-winning cultural media engine, spanning over 70 countries. Through a combination of thought-provoking stories, creative expression, and crowd funding, there is now a range of products to inspire the next female generation.

Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls

Ddi you know that the Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls (a series of two children’s books) were both funded through Kickstarter, and broke site records for fundraising for literature publication? The women behind the idea researched the lack of female role models in children’s literature, decided to write books which told a different story, and sold over 4.5 millions copies worldwide. I bought both books for my daughter when they were published and we loved reading them together. Each book is packed with 100 bedtime stories about the life of 100 extraordinary women from the past and the present, illustrated by 60 female artists from all over the world.

As fans of the books we were excited to hear about the new range of Rebel Girls jigsaw puzzles from Gibson Games. Gibsons kindly sent us the new puzzles to enjoy at home. There are 2 puzzles, one of 100 pieces and one of 500 pieces, featuring a selection of women from the Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls books. We love a good puzzle and couldn’t wait to get started!

Both puzzles looked appealing but my daughter chose the Rebel Girls 100 piece jigsaw puzzle first. The image on the box was very colourful and appealing, featuring a variety of women from Elizabeth I to Ada Lovelace – true heroines who definitely didn’t need rescuing.

The jigsaw pieces were large and my 8 year old found the puzzle quite quick and easy to do. It was such a fun, mindful activity to do together, and we enjoyed spending some time together after a morning of home learning. The puzzle was split into 5 sections of leaders, champions, warriors, creators and pioneers and it makes for a great opportunity to talk about the different women and what they achieved.

Then it was time for the Rebel Girls 500 piece jigsaw puzzle. The pieces were much smaller which put my daughter off at first. We found all the edge pieces but it was clear this was going to take us a lot longer to put together. In fact, we had to call in reinforcements from my son and husband. Puzzles should be a family affair and we spent some time together trying to build the puzzle.

The Rebel Girls 500 piece puzzle is divided into 5 coloured bands so we all took one of those and the puzzle soon began to take shape. It is a much more intricate puzzle to the 100 piece one but we all enjoyed the challenge. The puzzle celebrates queens, activists, scientists, artists and sporting champions throughout history, from Empress Jingu to Irena Sendlerowa. We didn’t recognise all the names but it was a great opportunity to learn more about some of the women who have shaped history.

As with all Gibsons jigsaws, they use 100% recycled puzzle board, FSC paper, which felt nice and sturdy. We also liked that the boxes were not too big, which means they are easy to store when not is use. A print of the finished puzzle is included in each box.

The Rebel Girl 100 piece jigsaw puzzle and Rebel Girls 500 piece jigsaw puzzle are priced £10.50 and available from Gibsons, Amazon (affiliate link) and all good toy shops.

I love jigsaw puzzles when I was a kid. I loved the challenge. My 3 kids did not have any patience with this, but hopefully, my grandson would enjoy it. These rebel girls jigsaw puzzle look really age appropriate! I am going to see if I can get one for my niece.

Oh I love this as a gift idea, when you’ve got 4 nieces and 6 nephews, I need all the help I can get with finding this for them!
