AD – I was kindly sent The Ultimate Folk Art Painting Masterclass from You Can Folk It to review at home A few weeks ago now I was offered The Ultimate Folk Art Painting Masterclass to try at home. My sister bought one of these kits from The Handmade Fair a few years ago and I loved the results. According to Wikipedia, Folk art covers all forms of visual art made in the context of folk culture. Definitions vary, but generally the objects have practical utility of some kind, rather than being exclusively decorative. Folk Art with You Can Folk…

For the past few years I have enjoyed putting together a post about the best pumpkin patches near London. Living on the edge of London we are able to travel into Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey and more to find the perfect pumpkin patch. There’s just something wonderful about a walk (and a photo or two) at a pumpkin patch. I’m sure I would never have said this a few years ago but it’s something the whole family enjoys, and the perfect Autumnal day out. Pumpkin patches near London {updated for 2020} As pumpkin patches are outdoors I’m hopeful that the…

As much as I have loved spending time with my children since their school went to online learning, I knew September would mark a new chapter for all of us. They were a little apprehensive to return to the classroom after 5 months but are both happy to be back at school. They are both in different year group bubbles but I have so much confidence that the school is doing everything they can to keep them safe. Back to school – for me! With my children back at school I had time to think about me! It’s easy to…

With the children going back to school tomorrow I wanted to make them something fun and useful too. We love crafting with Duck Tape and this Duck Tape hand sanitiser holder is both practical and pretty. There are some really lovely patterned Duck Tapes out there and I’m using this gorgeous floral tape to make a holder for a small bottle of hand sanitiser. My 8 year old is a little anxious about the return to school but I’m hoping this will cheer her up and help her feel safe at school. Supplies to make Duck Tape hand sanitiser holder…

I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I love to write. Last week was the last full week of the Summer holidays. Summer Holidays edit {Week 307} I made sure to finish all our school shopping weeks ago so the uniform is all ready, the new shoes have been worn in a little at home and the kids have new lunch boxes.…

Disclosure – this is a sponsored post with Fontsy Last month I celebrated writing my little blog for 15 years! I thought I would look back over my time by sharing some of the easy ways you can give your blog a makeover and keep things looking fresh and appealing for your audience. How blogging has changed Blogging changes so much. When I started out in 2005 I chose my blog name (not even sure how I chose the gingerbread house!), bought my domain and hosting and that was it. I taught myself how to run a basic WordPress blog,…

We’ve visited Rickmansworth Aquadrome in Hertfordshire quite a few times over the last few months. We’re so lucky to have a variety of places to walk on our doorstep. Our pup loves it when we take him somewhere new and the circular walks are a great length for his little legs. Every time we visit we seem to spot something new and Rickmansworth Aquadrome is a lovely place to take kids. Exploring Rickmansworth Aquadrome with kids The main features of Rickmansworth Aquadrome are Batchworth Lake and Bury Lake. The lakes were formed through gravel extraction which ceased in the 1920s.…

With children hopefully going back to school next week I’m sure there are lots of anxiety and nerves (from both parents and children!). I know that from speaking to my own children they both have mixed feelings about returning to school after so long. I’m sure it is the right time to go back to school for them and I’m hoping that the last few months will be forgotten as soon as they step through the school gates next week. I have two picture books to giveaway from Trigger Publishing which will help encourage conversation and promote wellness which is…
