Little London buildings bunting

I’m not quite sure how long I’ve had this cute Little London bunting set but it seemed the perfect make to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. Our street is taking part in The Big Jubilee Lunch as part of the official celebrations for HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend – 2-5 June 2022 – and The Big Lunch will once again kick start a whole Month of Community. Our street has great community spirit and it seemed only natural that we would come together to celebrate this special weekend.

As well as a delicious afternoon tea, we’ll be celebrating with prizes for the best dressed house, taking part in a street quiz and raising funds for charity via a raffle.

We decorated our house with flags, the recycled wooden pallet union flag which is still looking great,  the union jack Liberty flags and jubilee hoop art I recently made.

I’m not quite sure when or where I bought the Little London bunting kit but I knew it would be perfect to decorate our house. The fabric panel was pre-printed with iconic London buildings including Big Ben, a red London bus, red telephone box, London guard, stamp and flag.

This was such a quick and easy project. As always I was a little annoyed I hadn’t made it before. First I cut round all the shapes.

Then I pinned the two shapes, right-sides together. I used my sewing machine to stitch the two pieces together, leaving a small gap for turning.

I stitched all the London buildings including Big Ben, the red London bus, red telephone box, London guard, stamp and flags. Then I used mini pegs to attach them to string and hang them up over our front door.

I’m not sure they’ll help us win the best dressed house but they were fun to make!
