Platinum Jubilee mania has suddenly started and you can’t escape the fact Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating 70 years on the throne next month. We have had so much fun updating our Royal craft collection and have recently added a few more, such as our gorgeous Liberty Union flags.
Easy Platinum Jubilee hoop art
For our fun Platinum Jubilee hoop art we used:
Three 5″ wooden embroidery hoops
Selection of red, white and blue fabric
Scissors
Needle and thread
I already had a little stash of fabrics from the Diamond Jubilee in 2012. We decorated the house we lived in at the time and I had put away the rest of the fabrics for another day. I do love a stash buster craft and this was a fun way to use up scraps.
I had plenty of fabrics to choose from but opted for three fabrics which complemented each other, as well as being the colours of the Union flag.
First I placed the hoop over the fabric and roughly cut out enough fabric, approximately 20cm x 20cm. I used my Cricut EasyPress to gently press the fabrics, then placed each in an embroidery hoop.
I trimmed any excess fabric away, leaving about 2cm around the edge of the hoop.
Then did a quick running stitch around the edge of the fabric, drawing it tight.
I did this for the remaining two hoops. I love my Platinum Jubilee hoop art and think they make a colourful decoration for celebrating at home.

I love those fabrics you have, esp the one with the tube/ station names on it. It’s good that you’ve been able to re-use these from a past jubilee celebration x
