DIY mini crackers

Jenny Makes Mollie Makes Mini Cracker Kit

Posted on December 10, 2016 by jenny

Every month I challenge myself to make the Mollie Makes magazine cover gift. I’ve subscribed since it first came out and have a drawer full of unopened kits – but no more! I’ve been making more time for grown up crafting and I love to make the kits and hopefully try something new. I’ve been terrible lately, the last few kits haven’t been very inspiring but I did want to make the latest one.

Issue 68 Mollie Makes Mini Cracker Kit

The Mini Cracker Kit came with a wooden template, 8 papers, twine and confetti. The template was designed by Mini Eco, and the festive papers by Old English Co.

I’ve had this out for a few days and been doing little bits each day. This time of year is just crazy but I’ve been trying hard to still do a little sewing or paper cutting and take some time for myself.

The mini crackers are simple to make and I had a little practice before at The Handmade Fair. Everything was included in the  Cracker Kit except for a pencil, scalpel and self healing mat, which I already had.

I drew around the template on my paper then cut out the edges using my blade and mat.

The first time I followed the instructions and scored along the lines with the blunt side of my scalpel, but you can just fold the paper if you think of how you want your crackers to fold.

There wasn’t enough confetti for all the crackers so I just filled the first few, tying up the ends with the pretty twine. The mini crackers are super cute and really didn’t take long. They are perfect for a small tree or would look great hung up as a banner.
