I’ve just about survived the first week back to school after the Christmas holidays. It felt like it was quite hard to get back into the swing of things and I’m happy that I have a few days to relax at home. December is always a crazy month for families but I still have a few Christmas activities to post. Last month we had fun creating our free Elf on the Shelf twister printable which we wanted to share with you.
{free printable} Elf on the Shelf Twister game
We’ve had our Elf on the Shelf for a few years now and love to think up fun activities for them to do. One day my daughter was playing Twister, the game where you have a plastic mat with different coloured red, yellow, blue and green circles, where a spinner dictates where you put a hand or foot. It’s a fun game which is great for keeping the kids occupied. It totally inspired our Elf activities that evening!
We all know that Scout Elves come to life when the children go to bed so we made them their own mini game of twister! It didn’t take long to make a paper mat with the four colours, as well as a matching spinner. I printed out the mat and placed it on the floor, but backed the spinner with card to make it stronger. I pierced the spinner with a split pin and added a paper clip under the split pin so the spinner actually worked.
That evening I set up some of the children’s Star Wars figures on the Elf Twister (which was a lot harder than it sounds!). I sat the Elf and put the Elf Twister spinner in his hands to make it look like he was calling out the moves for the Star Wars characters.
It was really fun to make and the children loved it! So I thought I would share our free printable with you in case you’d like to make it.
STEP 1
Print out my free printable Elf on the Shelf Twister game. The pdf contains two pages – one for the A4 Twister mat and one page for the spinner. Make sure you have a split pin and paper clip to make the spinner.
STEP 2
Choose a selection of toys able to stand and be positioned as if playing the game
STEP 3
Place the spinner in the lap of your Elf so he can control the game.
